Frequently Asked
Questions
1. What do I need to look for in my decision to join a church? |
Of course, we would like for everyone to join with us at Friendship Baptist Church but in reality it is each person's decision, with instruction from God, as to membership. Some things to look for in a church might be:
1. Does the Pastor preach from the Bible or does he use a verse or two just to make a point of his own?
2. Is the message clear and relevant to today's world?
3. Is prayer an integral part of the service?
4. Is giving encouraged under the direction of God or is it guilt-induced?
5. Is there a balance between preaching, singing and fellowship with others?
6. Are the members truly friendly and seem to love having visitors or does the welcoming seem fake and half-hearted?
7. After a visit, do you have a desire to return?
Please be careful about making a judgment after only one visit. One Sunday cannot give an accurate assessment of a church or its members. Try also visiting on Sunday night at 6PM and even on Wednesday night at 7PM and get to know us. You will find our staff and church body to be caring, pleasant, and genuine.

2. Does Friendship have a dress code for services? |
You will find a variety of outfits and clothing in our services at Friendship Baptist. Some men will wear suits and ties while others wear jeans and knit shirts. Ladies will wear dresses or pantsuits. Our dress code is not formal and is based on personal preference. We just ask that clothing not be suggestive or objectionable.

3. Are Friendship services "contemporary" or "traditional"? |
We do not refer to our services as tradional or contemporary. Basically, we just like to call it worship. We just want to praise the Lord! Some will applaud and raise their hands. Others will be quiet and still. It's okay either way as long as Jesus and the teachings of the Bible is the center of our worship.

Reverend Brian McClure is our wonderful pastor. You may get in touch with him through the church office at (817) 556-3476 or by email at: pastor@friendshipbaptistcleburne.com

5. Do you have classes for all ages? |
We do have classes for every age group. With our growth, we are adding classes as needed from newborn all the way up to young adult and adult.
6. Is membership in the church a requirement to attend services? |
While we would like everyone to join, membership is not a requirement to attend and enjoy all the services we have.
7. Do you have special programs and events? |
We have special programs and events throughout the year. We have banquets, festivals, and special guests on a regular basis. Our expansive Family Life Center usually has something going on each week.
8. Is Friendship financially sound? |
God has richly blessed Friendship both in numerical growth and financial growth. At this time we are very fiscally sound. We are learning that as we are obedient in the matter of giving to Him, He always blesses us right back.
9. Do you welcome people of all races? |
We would not consider ourselves a church if we restricted any individual from coming to our services. We believe Jesus died for all men and women, regardless of race, and it is incumbent on us to share His "Good News" with everyone.
10. Who participates in the Lord's Supper or Communion and how often do you observe the ordinance? |
We practice OPEN COMMUNION once every three months. We invite all who have had a saving experience with Jesus Christ and who have been baptized by immersion to join with us as we take the Lord's Supper. A special time of inward inspection is always observed prior to communion.

11. Who actually runs the church? Pastor? Deacons? Someone else? |
We believe that the one who controls the church is Jesus Christ.
We believe that deacons are servants of the church and not a governing board. The Pastor is the spiritual guide of the church and not a program dictator. Each member has one vote on every issue but we spend time in prayer so that the vote is reflective of the guidance of the Lord.

12. I feel uncomfortable praying out loud or reading or answering Bible questions. Will I be called upon? |
Our Pastor and teachers are sensitive to new members and would never purposefully do anything to embarrass anyone at anytime. Sharing and participation will always be left to the decision of your heart.
